Brass Blanks

This is CZ108 which is an alloy of 63% Copper and 37% Zinc. The sheet is half hard. It is excellent for cold forming, and the thinner gauges, say up to 0.9mm, are extremely flexible and can be manipulated and cut with hand tools. Soldering properties are also very good, we also sell an excellent tin/silver pre-fluxed solder. The sheet has a peelable protective film on the face side to help reduce marking during fabrication. If you are soldering it is best to peel back the film in the area you are working.

After fabrication, the brass surface can be left as is or finished with scotchbrite-type pads to achieve uniformity. Further treatments include lacquering and patina application. CZ108 is probably the most stocked grade for general sheet fabrication.

Brass decor went out of mainstream fashion maybe 50 years ago, but it is making a great comeback in the 2020s. even though it is at its highest price ever due to high copper demand. Also known as Common Brass, Traditional Brass, Victorian Brass or Yellow Brass the UK designation CZ108, (Copper Zinc grade 108) is also cross-referenced as CuZn37 or the European reference EN-CW508L and in the USA as C27400 There are many other grades of brass sheet metal each designed for a different purpose, some of the more common sheet forms are listed below.
